Hello everyone,
Welcome to another round of excuses as to why we haven’t updated our long neglected blog. We moved, we’ve started new jobs, we’ve been busy, we’re just unorganised. Well now we have some lovely news to share, we’ve finished recording our next EP, ‘Grassmarket’, with the fantastic Craig Wainwright and the lovely people are putting on a launch night for us at The Hare and Hounds in Birmingham on Wednesday 23rd November. It’s going to be £5 if you book your tickets now from the Moseley Folk website and feature support from My First Tooth and Joe Summers. It’s going to be brilliant fun, we’ll be playing the whole EP, some regulars and perhaps a few new songs. We’re very excited for you all to hear ‘Grassmarket’ as we’ve been working very hard on it and we’re all really proud of it. All the details are below:

So, apart from recording what have we been up to since Sea of Bees, the last time we updated? We’ve been busy playing! We’ve been lucky enough to support Nathaniel Rateliffe at Taylor John’s House in Coventry and it was quite a night. If you haven’t checked out Nathaniel’s album ‘In Memory of Loss’ now is the time to do it. An unbelievable voice coupled with amazing songs makes for a beautiful record. Another highlight was supporting Slow Club at the Institute in Birmingham. Slow Club are big ‘Paradise’ deserves every bit of the praise it’s been receiving since it’s release. Here’s a few photos from the show courtesy of Davoud Davies.

We also had an absolute blast at 2000 Trees Festival hanging out with all our amazing istartedthefire friends, as well as plenty of bands and friends we haven’t seen for a while:

The highlight of the summer for us was headlining the Lunar Stage at Moseley Folk Festival. Since playing the Bohemian Jukebox stage last summer we knew we wanted to go back this year so being asked to headline a stage was a real honour. It was a special occasion for us, and also saw the arrival of our newest member ‘Whispering’ Billy Moss. Unfortunately it was also our last show for the foreseeable future with Hannah as she’s moving to Germany to study for the year. We loved every second of our set and we just want to say thank you to everyone involved in booking us, making our day run smoothly and especially to everyone who watched us and put such big smiles on our faces. We’re already missing Hannah and we can’t wait to see her at Christmas!
So to bring us nicely up to date, here’s a few videos from our session on the Ikon Gallery’s Slow Boat Sessions. Each artist performs on a barge as it travels along the canals of Birmingham! It was great fun and our good friend Davoud captured a few songs. You can listen to the whole set, as well as the sets of the other participants here:

We also did a photo shoot with Sam Wood, here’s a little preview:

See you at the launch show!
